SENATOR BUHARI CALLS FOR MORE FUNDING OF NIGERIA RAILWAY CORPORATION… Attends Oyo APC Stakeholders Meeting at the National Secretariat

The Chairman, Senate Committee On Land Transport and lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Dr AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari, today called for the increment in budgetary allocation to the Nigeria Railway Corporation because of the importance of the sector to the nation.

The fifth (5th) ranked Best Senator in Oyo State and the South West stated this when the Ministry of Transportation and agencies under it came for Budget Defence at the National Assembly.

The workaholic Senator asked the Honourable Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi why the corporation’s budget is being reduced from N15billion in 2021 budget to N7billion for the year 2022.

According to the Oyo State Gubernatorial Hopeful,’ the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) is a performing sector and major contributor to the nation purse so the sector needs more funding to be more effective and efficient. So, it’s surprising why the corporation that got #15billion in the year 2021 has been reduced to #7billion in 2022 budget.

In his response, the Honourable Minister for Transport, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi said, ” the Nigeria Railway Corporation is being encouraged to be self-funded, thus, the need to make them to look inward on how to be generating more fund for its operations and the country as a whole.

Distinguished Senator Buhari thereafter attended the stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Oyo State at the instance of National Body of the party to find lasting solutions to the lingering crisis rocking the in the state.
