75th Posthumous Birthday : Alao-Akala Still Lives In Our Hearts
The lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Abdul-Fatai Omotayo Buhari, has paid 75th post-humous birthday tribute to late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, saying that the late politician’s records of good deeds have immortalised him.
Otunba Alao-Akala, popularly called “Oyato Governor”, was born on June 3, 1950.
Late Alao-Akala, a retired police officer, local government chairman, deputy governor and governor of Oyo State, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his Opadoyin. Akala Lodge, Randa Area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Senator Buhari, in a statement on Tuesday, dwelled on Alao-Akala’s enduring contributions to the people of Oyo State, particularly his hometown, Ogbomosoland.
“The news of the demise of our leader and big brother, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, came as a rude shock which ate deep to our bone marrow.
“God called him at a time when his service to our dear communities, State and the country needed him more than he did as governor. As a younger brother to him, I am comforted because ‘Booda Bayo’, as I used to call him, left remarkable legacies which will stand the test of time.
“So, I want to, even in death, identify with the family of our late hero, Otunba Alao-Akala, on the occasion of his 75th post-humous birthday today. He lived a life devoted to the good of the people and humanity at large.”
The Ibapon-born politician behoves on the entire family and the massive political camp that he left behind to remain strong, committed and united with a view to championing what their patriarch, Alao-Akala, stood for during his lifetime.
“I enjoin my brother and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youths in Parliament, Hon. Olamijuwinlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala and the entire family be more focused, committed and united in order to live beyond the standard that Alao-Akala envisage before he breathed his last on January 12, 2022.
“He is sorely missed and I, therefore, celebrate him on his 75th post-humous birth anniversary,” Buhari stated.
