ASSURANCE: WE SHALL TAKE AVIATION TO WHERE IT OUGHT TO BE – -SENATOR BUHARI ABDULFATAI
Senator Buhari Abdulfatai has promised that the Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development will work with the Executives to take the Nigeria aviation industry to where it ought to be in order to meet global standards.
The Chairman, Senate Committee On Aviation And Aerospace Development stated this today during the Ministry’s budget defence held at National Assembly by Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Aviation.
The third term Senator representing the good people of Oyo North Senatorial District explained that Nigerians look forward to improvement in the sector for the benefits of all stakeholders.
“Honourable Minister, day in day out we receive petitions on aviation sector from Nigerians because they want a better aviation sector. We shall work with you to make the sector a better one. ” He promised.
Senator Buhari reiterated the resolve of all members of both committees to ask questions on 2024 budget estimates and seek clarifications where necessary, thus, allow the Honourable Minister to respond for clarification.
While responding to questions and clarifications from members of the committees, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN) who led his ministry and her agencies to the budget defence commended the Joint committee for their commitment and cooperation since he assumed office as a Minister and stated that the state of many airports in Nigeria is not good.
Keyamo explained that Nigeria is overdue for her second runway in both Abuja and Lagos airports because Nigeria is placed to be the hub of the world in terms of air travel. He informed the Joint committee that Nigeria need to plan to accommodate 20 million passengers in a year so that the nation can generate money for the county’s development.
