#1M FINE : Crown FC Rejects NNL Verdict
..as GM pleads for thorough investigations with a view to reversing the heavy penalty
The Olamide Ilupeju managed Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso has outrightly rejected the One Million Naira fine hammered on the club by the Nigeria National League (NNL) on the allegation of verbal assault on match officials in the Match Day Six Southern Conference Group B game against the Solution Football Club of Awka at Awka City Stadium, Awka, Anambra State on Saturday 23rd December, 2023.
This was made available at the Soun Township Stadium, Ogbomoso, by the Spokesperson of the Club,Oyetunji Oyedeji and made available to the press.
The release reads thus ;
The Management of Crown Football Club of Ogbomosho has rejected the news of verbal assault on Match Officials in their match day six of the Nigeria National League Southern Conference B against Solution Fc of Awka at Awka City Stadium, Awka, Anambra State.
Yesterday, the Nigeria National league (NNL) charged Crown FC of Ogbomoso for various degree of offences prohibited by the leagues frameworks and to cough out One Million Naira for the offence of assault.
The match day six (6) game between Solution FC and Crown FC ended 1 : 0 in favour of Solution FC and at the last minute of the game after Center Referee blew the final whistle, it was customary for the entire crew of the club to join the rest of the players on the pitch as soon as the game came to an end to reference God for an injury free game and certainly not to confront the match officials.
Neither the General Manager of Crown FC, Olamide Ilupeju nor any member of Crown FC verbally attacked or insulted any of the appointed match officials of the game under reference before, during and after the game.
The Management of Crown FC thereby call upon the league body and relevant stakeholders to look into the said allegations properly and do thorough investigations with a view to reversing the heavy penalty melted on the club.
