The Senate Committee on Aviation has announced an investigation into recent high-profile incidents involving airlines and passengers in Nigeria.

 

This declaration was made by The Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai Ph. D in a statement issued and made available to journalists in the early hours of today.

 

Senator Buhari expressed deep concern over the incidents, citing questions about operational standards, passenger rights, and discipline within the aviation sector.

 

According to Senator Buhari, these incidents demand immediate and coordinated action to protect the sector’s integrity and restore public confidence.

“The Committee will engage with key regulatory bodies, operators, security agencies, and public interest groups to establish facts and review existing procedures”, the lawmaker assured.

 

Senator Buhari disclosed that the Senate Committee on Aviation will be exercising its constitutional powers to ensure accountability and enforce necessary corrective measures.”

 

He emphasized that procedural gaps or lapses in enforcement will not undermine safety, professionalism, or public trust in the aviation system.

 

Senator Buhari added that “the Committee’s investigation aims to identify the root causes of these incidents and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.

 

The lawmaker further assured Nigerians that the Committee is maintaining active oversight and will drive the process toward enforceable solutions.

 

“The aviation sector has faced several challenges in recent times, and this investigation is a step towards addressing these issues. The Committee’s findings and recommendations are expected to bring about much-needed reforms and improvements,” he declared.
