AJILETE CARNIVAL 2021 POSTPONED TO HONOUR LATE SOUN OF OGBOMOSOLAND
Chairman, Ajilete Carnival Concept, Hon Akinwale Akinwole has announced reschedule of the proposed Ajilete Carnival 2021.
The event,billed to hold on 26th December, has been shifted to honour the late Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Dr Oladunni Oyewumi Soun Ajagungbade 111 who joined his ancestors on the 12th of December 2021.
Akinwole, in a statement, said Oba Oyewumi’s demise is a painful and unexpected event, and as cultured and responsible indigene of Ogbomoso, the committee considered it a mark of honour to hold the carnival on 17th April 2022.( Easter Sunday)
“Though this is regrettable, but we have to honour our late father because if he were alive he was to play the traditional host for the event
“I want to appeal to all indigenes of Ogbomoso home and abroad who have been preparing to participate in the event to bear with the team as we grief over the demise of our dear father.
A new date will be announced in due course.
The Ajilete Carnival, aside projecting the ancient city of Ogbomoso to the international community, is an annual event which brings on board made and upcoming Artistes.
The Yoruba culture is well promoted during the epoch making event like display of egungun(masquerade) dancers, opon ayo game, food, amongst others.
The deadly Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible for the 2020 edition to hold but it is hoped that this year event will be a superb and classic with more innovation.
