EX-COMMISSIONER,AZUZU, WARNS PUBLISHER, CHRONICLER NEWSPAPERS AGAINST JUNK JOURNALISM
The Publisher of Chronicler Newspapers, Mr Biodun Alhazan has been warned against junk journalism practices particularly tailored towards misinforming and inciting the general publics against prominent individuals in the country.
The former Commissioner for works and transport under Late Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State, Alhaji Dauda Oladimeji made this call in a release titled -Reaction to misinformation on report published by the newspapers on today’s edition with headline ” Goats Will Take Over LAUTECH Iseyin Campus If We Win’, APC Leader Told Teachers Union During Campaign” made available to Journalists few hours ago, premiumnewsnig.com reports.
According to the Leader of All Progressives Congress in Iseyin Local government, the story published on the newspapers with above headline was unfounded, rumoured and misinformed news that should have been discarded by a professional news handlers or editor if at all the medium has any.
“The story was ill-concieved though to unreasonably attack my personality but I decided to put up this rejoinder to produce the true picture of our campaign messages in a meeting with the Association of Head of Primary Schools of Nigeria, Iseyin Local government chapter on the day the paper quoted.
“I and other leaders of APC faulted the pace of development at Iseyin Campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and stated that majority of the On-going projects there were Tetfund-Federal Government intervetion ones under the leadership of APC”.
“We added that the campus should have commenced operation before the electioneering period and so our people should not be deceived. We told our audience that if somebody is paying them salaries on 25th of every month and another person pays on 30th of the month, it’s still within a month interval and that they are getting their entitlements for the services they are rendering to the State,” he stated.
” An objective, focused and serious-minded journalist and reputable media outfit should have produced the report that same day not after two weeks that the Gubernatorial elections were conducted in the country. So, no doubt, the story was ill-produced to instigate the good people of Iseyin against my personality,” the APC leader said.
He added that the Publisher with his fake news and sources of information have all failed because the elections have come and gone and the winner emerged as ordained by God, The Only Being that enthrones and dethrones.
“Such unfairly interpreted story should be avoided by the medium if the publisher desires to have it grow to the standard of its competitors in the media industry,” the Ex-Commissioner advised.
