Following a devastating and destructive rainstorm that occurred at Igboho community in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, The rainstorm, which lasted for approximately 35 minutes, caused widespread destruction, damaging 109 houses, 113 shops, fences, and several electric poles, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai has extended his sympathies to the affected families and entire people of the community.

The senator representing the people of Oyo North expressed his concern over the ugly incident in a press release issued and made available to journalists in the early hours of today.

According to Senator Buhari, the estimated loss runs into hundreds of millions of naira, leaving many families affected while he added that the community is still grappling with the aftermath of the disaster, with many residents struggling to come to terms with the extent of the damage.

Senator Buhari expressed his deep sadness over the devastating impact of the rainstorm on the community.

He called on the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Oluseyi Makinde, to provide immediate assistance to the affected families while he urged the government to provide palliatives to the victims and assist in restoring essential services, including electricity infrastructure.

The lawmaker assured the people of Igboho that he stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time and that he will be committed to supporting their cause and advocating for their needs at the national level.
