Distinguished Senator Dr AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly had the privilege of being part of the Federal Government’s entourage led by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima to the funeral ceremony of Otunba Michael Subomi Balogun, the esteemed founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) on Saturday 9th July, 2023 in Ijebu Ode,Ogun State.
As they gathered in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, a sense of reverence filled the air. They bid farewell to a remarkable man whose contributions to the Nigerian banking sector will be forever cherished.
According to the lawmaker, “Otunba Subomi Balogun’s passing on May 19th, 2023, in a London hospital, left a profound void in the hearts of many.
However, today’s ceremony was not just about mourning his departure, but also about celebrating his extraordinary journey”.
Talking about the deceased who had a humble beginning and left his name in gold in the banking sector, Senator said,
From humble beginnings, Otunba Subomi Balogun carved a path of entrepreneurial excellence, establishing FCMB and leaving an indelible mark on our nation’s financial landscape.
His visionary leadership and commitment to community development will continue to inspire generations to come.
