The fifth ranked best senator in Nigeria , Distinguished Senator Dr AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, has applauded and appreciated the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), for the award of excellence given to him by the Comrade Demola Babalola led team in the ongoing Press Week at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, Press centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The lawmaker made this known in a release through his Media Office in Ibadan on Tuesday 30th November,2021.
” Today, it was a delight and honour to be presented an award of excellence by Oyo state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists at Dapo Aderogba Hall, Press centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
This award coming from NUJ, the fourth estate of the realm makes it a testament to my modest all round representation at the upper chamber. As delivered by Prince Semiu Azeez who received the award on my behalf, I see the honour as a call to do more for people of not only Oyo North, but also the generality of Nigeria people” .
The 2023 Oyo Gubernatorial Hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) reminisced on his long lasting and very cordial relationship with the NJU. To him, the award is nothing but a challenge to do more in representing the people.
“My relationship with Oyo NUJ dated back to a long time, and this award has further solidified it. I hold the media in high esteem in the enhancement of democracy, and holding leaders accountable.
It is my belief that the Oyo NUJ will continue to discharge their responsibilities towards achieving a united, peaceful and developed Nigeria without sentiment or favour”.
The limit breaking lawmaker ended by appreciating the NUJ for the honour while wishing them a very peaceful Annual Press Week Celebration.
