Im an indigine of Okeogun based in Lagos. Since 1999, I have never voted in Okeogun but I have transfered my voters card to Okeogun in order to vote for a Senator I have never met.
As a retiree, I have decided to relocate home but the decision to vote for Sen AbdulFatai Buhari popularly called BAF has hastened my plan. I love the guy. I have heard so much about him and I have seen his works.
I stumbled over information that he is the most productive senator in the South West and the 5th most productive of the 109 senators.
I have heard about BAF in far away Lagos when people were telling a particular senator to go and lea
rn from Sen Buhari. This aroused my cur
iosity and I decided to embark on a fact finding tours of Okeogun.
There was a day I was inside BRT Bus in Lagos and people were talking about Senator Buhari that he is a very humble and God fearing Muslim.
Please, I don’t want my intention to be corrupted by introducing me to him. I am not seeking for anything from him. I just want him to continue doing his good job, posterity will judge him and he will be rewarded by God Almighty. Those who know him should tell him not to change his style. Let him continue to serve the people diligently.
The last message I read about him was his recommendation by Prof Lakin Akintola. You may not like Akintola but you should not hate the truth from him. If a politician’s activities have been known to him and he endorsed that person as a potential president, then we need to study that politician.
When i saw that some people are trying to oppose the return of Sen Buhari, I carried an independent investigation and I shared their sentiments initially. But after I considered all the candidates who got tickets to contest from other parties both recognised political platforms and mushroom political parties, I concluded it was better they allow BAF to go again.
I got to know that BAF is one of the trusted and dependable allies of Asiwaju Tinubu. There is no doubt that he will be more useful to Asiwaju presidency.
This Senator has secured us a bill for the establishment of Federal University in Okeogun. With BAF as a senator under Tinubu as a president, its a done deal. This is an opportunity my people of Okeogun should not miss. Let us wait for 2027.
What our people should do is to extract commitments from the various gubernatorial candidates from Ibadan not to treat Okeogun deputy governor as spare tyres. They should be able to convince us that in the sighting of projects, they will honour their deputies by giving them considerations. If our deputy governors are well treated, people will be happy. With the way deputy governors were being maltreated by successive governors, our people are beginning to loose interest and hope in the post of deputy governor.
With the way things are, there is hope that BAF is going to be reelected. There are 7 Okeogun sons contesting against 3 Ogbomoso indigenes. As far as I’m concerned, one of the 3 candidates is just a contender. He was given the slot by one who is haunted by his past. The person to whom the particular ticket was given knew within himself that people were waiting for him at the polls to take additional pounce of flesh, so he dodged defeat and transfered the ticket.
I’m more fortified by the emerging appreciations of those who are beginning to see reasons why we should reelect BAF again in 2023 in spite of initial oppositions.
I have discovered and I’m happy and proud that not a single objection is raised to Buhari Performances.
The funniest thing, although it is absolute truth, even his co- contestants admit and acknowledged that Sen Buhari has performed excellently well but that they can do better. Our appeal to them is to be patient, it will soon get to them. We plead with them to learn more politics, improve on their human relations and give a better account of themselves in public and the current mandate if they are currently enjoying one. In the nearest future, we could call on them.
As for those who have nothing to show or to offer and they are busy ranting. We plead with them to join the moving train. Let them learn from Sen Buhari how he redefined legislative representations in Oyo North.
LET our candidates for Senate know that the Senate of Federal Republic of Nigeria is not where they will go and be taking tea and photograph pictures. It is a house of serious intellectual business and hardwork.
To excell you must have a good communication skills,
knowledge of and experience in government and capacity to deliver.
In the Senate, you have to keep reading and learning. BAF never ceases to learn. He just graduated from Havard again. So, I learnt .
The world is fast changing, and we need to align our legislation with global legal realities and our political environment. Only serious minded candidate like BAF is more suitable and appropriate in 2023.
Even if you know your law, even if you are articulate, if you do not know how to play good politics, lobby and network in the Senate it would be very difficult for you to get other senators to agree to your proposals. These are possessed in abundance by Senator AbdulFatai Buhari.
Let all those contesting under mushrooms parties know that you can’t shine in the Senate if you don’t belong to the mainstream party and have a good relations with fellow senators. May you no’t labour in vain. Can you see a legislator who belongs to the mainstream political party but does not belong to the right caucus? What is his score card?
LET it be know that it is very important for new legislators who want to see their proposals or pet bills through to belong to mainstream political party.
Put sentiments aside and vote that Ogbomoso born senator and you can then wait till 2027 when we shall consider only matured and well cultured candidates from Okeogun. In that wise , if I’m given ticket I can even sacrifice my own ambition for a better candidate.
The entire South West, not only Oyo North and Oyo State stand to benefit more if we reelect Prince AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari .
