– Senator Buhari tasks Nigerian Youths

A call has gone to Youths in Nigeria to spearhead Social Entrepreneurial Movement across the country through effective utilization of digital technologies.
This call was made by The Senator-Elect to represent Oyo North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, Dr. Buhari Abdulfatai during the 2nd annual distinguished lecture delivered at Eti-Osa Lecture Theater of Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State today.
At the event organized by College of Management and Social Sciences of the institution and covered by National PointBlank Correspondent, Senator Buhari said that effective application of digital technologies can improve Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment rate and literacy rate among others.
In the lecture titled ” Digital Economy, Nigerian Youths and National Development, Senator Buhari stated that in spite of the opportunities of digital technologies to the youths and the economy at large, most Nigerian young people are yet to give adequate attention to ways through which they can contribute positively to national development within the digital economy”.
While charging youths to improve their knowledge through acquisition of digital skills, Senator Buhari said “as a youth, you can only contribute to national development when you have the required digital skills needed to thrive within the web economy now”.
He charged youths to be “prosumers”; producers and consumers of values, The Lawmaker said with this it will be absolutely possible for government to create an enabling environment that will accommodate “prosumerism” that is needed to stimulate the interest of most youths in national development.
Senator Buhari admonished Nigerian Youths to take advantages made available by digital technologies to develop economic mindset that will make them to be aware of their ability to earn social, cultural, political and economic capital through their online activities.
“Only youths with economic mindsets are well informed about government social support and benefits that will facilitate entrepreneurship”, The Legislator told youths.
Earlier in her opening remarks, The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim identified Senator Buhari as a good friend to the institution while she acknowledged the intellectual properties of the legislator as second to none in Nigerian politics.
In his own remarks, a Professor of Mathematics from University of Lagos, J. O. Olaleru described Dr. Buhari as a Senator-Extra-Ordinary who has all that it takes to be decorated as a Professor in any University in Nigeria.
Professor Olaleru added that Senator Buhari impacts in all communities in his senatorial district, Oyo North remain excellent and unbeatable.
Other prominent scholars from Nigerian Universities that made the event memorable included; Professor Siyan Oyeweso (Osun State University), Professor Olalekan Yinusa (Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) and Dr. Olusegun Liadi (Fountain University, Osogbo).
Among those in the entourage of Senator Buhari were; Hon. Abiodun Adeyemo, Hon. Kunle Adeyi, Alhaji Bukola Badmos, Hon. Isiaq Adeniyi, Alhaji Ololade Bello and Prince Semiu Azeez.
