It is a common norm in this part of the world that most politicians only give their accounts of stewardship only during electioneering or campaign periods so as to deceive the electorates in other to gain their supports during elections.
Most politicians do not have common grounds where they met with their constituents for a town hall meeting in other to know their perculiar and urgent needs with the soul aim of finding lasting solutions to their challenges.
Elected public servants ,in most cases, brought what they get for their people and not what their people needed – another reason for under development in our various communities.
The question begging for answers is, why must elected officials be more powerful than those who voted them ?
The few months of qualitative representation by Hon Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao Akala, the lawmaker representing the good people of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency at the Nigerian House Of Representatives, in the 10th Assembly, has changed the narratives.
As promised during the campaign periods, the young , dynamic, digital, innovative, proactive, accessible, passionate and very compassionate Hon Alao Akala has lived to his promise by regularly coming home to meet with his constituents, an avenue where he could communicate with his constituents.
This he started on Saturday 30th September, 2023, at the popular radio station, Parrot FM 101.1 , Oke Baby area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, where he spent two (2) hours giving his accounts of stewardship to the listening pleasure of the very large audience.
The educative and informative interraction has helped the very vibrant Alao Akala to meet some of the needs raised by his constituents and still pressing tirelessly to putting smiles on the faces of the people who stood under the sun and inside the rain to make his election a resounding success.
Yesterday, Thursday 4th April, 2024 was another Special Interactive Interview Programme with the Chairman, House Committee On Youths In Parliament, Hon Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao Akala , at Parrot 101.1 FM, Oke Baby, Ogbomoso, anchored by the duo of Tolu Ikusagba and Lanre Gbadamosi, where the large listening audience were comprehensively informed on the journey so far since assumption to office.
The Deputy Chairman, House Adhoc Committee On Internal Security, explained the clear differences between legislators and those with executive power. When asked by a caller, Banji Okeniyi, on the need to construct a flyover at the Takie axis of the town, the much loaded Alao Akala smilingly educated him that it was the core duty of the executive members in power but as a legislator, he could only lobby them to make it a reality , likewise the many roads begging for rehabilitation and construction.
Also, like on the issue raised by a caller , Mr Akano Segun, on the damage caused by rain to certain households, Hon Alao Akala pledged to look into it and commended the caller for reminding him on his planes to have a committee in that regard so that issues like such could be fast tracked to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
While speaking on the Power Plant along Iresa-Adu road, Hon Akao Akala said, ” I commend our Imperial Majesty, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III,the Soun of Ogbomosoland, for his progressive minded policies for the growth and development of the town. I have been working so hard on it and my efforts brought the Minister of Power, Honorable Adebayo Adelabu down to Ogbomoso for on the spot assessment of the project. We are working on it and by God’s grace,it will yield positive results very soon. How are people using diesel for their businesses surviving at this period ? Even petrol is dear to buy but dollar is crashing and very soon these prices will equally drop. I plead for peaceful co-existence amongst all of us in Ogbomoso, irrespective of religion and tribe.
On the new passport office in Ogbomoso , the lawmaker said that it is only the committee in charge that can give in details the present stage of the project.
Hon Alao Akala spoke of the readiness of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Oyo State local government elections to win so that the grassroot could feel the impacts of the government more at the grassroot, as it used to be in those days of functioning local government administration in Oyo State.
On Education, the House Committee Member On TETFUND, highlighted some of his achievements so far which includes ;
1.
Free JAMB registration and tutorial classes for 300 carefully selected constituents
2. Facilitation of the construction of a block of two classrooms at Oolo Community in Oriire local government
3. Giving Scholarship Opportunities for some constituents.
4. Training of teachers across the three local governments be represents.
5. Training and Empowerment of 60 Youths In his constituency with a cash support fund of #50,000 to each beneficiary.
The Member , House Committee On Works, Hon Alao Akala, knowing the importance of infrastructure for development, made it known that aside the construction of culverts at Papa Iteaiqaju area, Owolake in Oriire local government, Odo Alalubosa Sawmill area, Old Aare Odua, along Aduin and behind Akala ‘s house, randa area,
he has distributed sizeable number of solar lights to many households, facilitated 6 boreholes projects , each in the three local governments he is representing.
To ensuring our youths are not lagging behind in this technology age, the Member, House Committee On Youth Development, acquired smartphones for small business owners and students and also gave laptops to students.
In agriculture, Hon Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao Akala, collaborated with Border Communities Development Agency to train and empower farmers where a start -up capital of #50,000 was given to each participant.
El Em Jay OjuOloore, as the lawmaker is fondly called by his growing supporters, had a mini empowerment programme for his constituents where motorcycles, sewing machines, deep freezers, generating sets, industrial sewing machines and financial aides were given to the beneficiaries as support for self development.
In his primary assignment of legislation, the young Alao Akala stands tall amongst his colleagues with seven(7) bills and five(5) motions in less than a year to his credit. These bills are ;

4. Bill for an Act to Amend the Armed Forces Act, 1994 , seeks to Amend the Armed Forces Act Cap A20, Laws of federation of Nigeria 2004 to include Junior in the composition of the Nigeria Army Council, Nigeria Navy Board and Nigeria Air Council.

As stated by the legislator, the success so far could not have been possible if not the Lord Almighty, Distinguished Senator Dr AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari and many others who believe in the growth and progress of Ogbomoso land, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The session ended up with the lawmaker appreciating God for His grace and mercy upon him . He appreciated his constituents for their unflinching supports. He also said a very big thank you to his late father’s friends and everybody whom God has used and will still use in his life journey.
